University was founded in 1931 as Japan’s sixth imperial university. The motto of this university is "Live Locally, Grow Globally," Osaka University provides Japanese society with a great number of talented people in all fields. while an imperial initiative, the enthusiasm of the people living there, business people of that locality, and government for its founding was overwhelming, supported by massive private funding that was converted into the university. many Osaka University researcher’s publish their research results in scientific paper every year. All Osaka University researchers were asked to nominate what they considered to be outstanding papers published for that acadimic year. the research papers which they found interesting are nominated and introduced in the year book of the university.
In 2007, Osaka University merged with Osaka University of Foreign Studies. In 2009, University founded the United Graduate School of Child Development, and became the japans leading university with 11 schools, 16 graduate schools and 5 Research institutes. It also founded 3 national joint-use facilities.
